The walk to the butterfly house leads through the imperial gate, with its ornate wrought iron and capped with the Imperial double eagle. Then past the Palmenhaus (palm house) with its art deco facade and on to the Schmetterlinghaus, likewise with an art deco facade. An urn stands next to the door, and beneath it a lion's head stands guard.
